A regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council for the City of Grosse Pointe Farms was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016, by Mayor James Farquhar, at 90 Kerby Road, Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.
 
Present:  Mayor James Farquhar, Councilmembers Therese Joseph, Louis Theros, Joe Ricci, Peter Waldmeir, Martin West and Mayor Pro Tem Lev Wood.
 
Absent:  None
 
Also Present: Messrs; Shane L. Reeside, City Manager; Derrick Kozicki, City Clerk/Assistant City Manager; John Lamerato, City Controller/Treasurer; Terry Brennan, Director of Public Services; Dan Jensen, Director of Public Safety; John Hutchins, Deputy Director of Public Safety; William Burgess, City Attorney.
 
Mayor Farquhar led the Pledge of Allegiance.
 
Council considered approval of the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 9, 2016.
 
Farquhar moved to approve the Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 9, 2016. Motion carried.
 
Farquhar moved to consider Agenda Item 5 (Consent Agenda) before Agenda Item 4 (Fence Appeal). Motion carried.
 
Council considered the following five items on the Consent Agenda.
 
a.      Consideration of a request from Racing for Kids to close Kercheval Avenue on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 for the “10th Annual Racing for Kids to the Hill” community fundraiser.
b.      Consideration of a request from the Public Services Director to enter into an agreement with Nagle Paving for the 2016 Road Resurfacing Program.
c.      Consideration of a request from the Public Services Director to purchase a vehicle for the Department of Public Works.
d.      Consideration of a request from the City Controller/Treasurer to enter into an agreement with Comp One to serve as the City’s Workers Compensation Claims Administer.
e.      Consideration of a request from the City Controller/Treasurer to approve May 2016 invoices.
 
Theros moved, West seconded to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried
Council considered an appeal regarding the denial of a fence permit for 134 Merriweather Road.
 
Waldmeir moved, Wood seconded to postpone considering the appeal regarding the denial of a fence permit for 134 Merriweather until July 11, 2016 due to the applicant’s absence from the meeting.
 
Council received the Public Safety Report for May 2016 and it was ordered placed on file.
 
Mayor Farquhar adjourned the meeting at 7:10 p.m.
