There are six (6) Councilmembers who serve staggered terms. Voters elect three (3) Councilmembers and one (1) Mayor at each odd-year General Election. Candidates elected to city council serve a four-year term, and the Mayor is elected for a two-year term. The Mayor Pro-Tem is elected by a vote of the City Council and elected by Councilmembers for a two-year term.
Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Judge Regular Term - Non-Incumbent Position
There is one (1) Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Judge who is elected to a four-year term. Unlike Mayor and City Council, the Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Judge serves and is elected by the combined vote of the electorate of Grosse Pointe Farms and Grosse Pointe Shores.

Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Judge: Not less than 50 or more than 75 qualified registered Electors of the City of Grosse Pointe Farms and/or Grosse Pointe Shores.|
